A four-knob bass designer built around a plane falling toward a dark center. Root adds a sub an octave or two below your note and deepens the well. Reach adds harmonics, and cyan light runs out along the lines. Growl gives the bass a vowel, and a jagged band travels out from the center. Move sweeps that vowel: with each note, in time, or free.

TryStart the sound. Choose Init and raise Root: the well deepens and the sub comes in under the bass. Choose Phone Check and compare Reach at 0 and 80%: at 80% the cyan light runs farther out. Raise Growl while it plays: the lines turn jagged, not just brighter. Choose Yoi or Wub 1/8 to hear Move sweep the vowel, then flick Move and let go: it swings and springs home. Press the smiley to bypass: what comes out is what went in.
In the pluginThe same sound code and the same screen, with tempo Move locked to your DAW's playhead and your presets kept as files on your Mac. Level matching is not a limiter: at high settings, leave headroom.
Knob contractDrag up or right · Shift fine · double-click resets · arrow keys when focused. A quick flick on a throwable knob swings it and springs it back; a slow drag just sets it.
NameV404 is named after V404 Cygni, a black hole whose X-ray outbursts echo outward in rings. The screen is a field bending toward a dark center.
