Terms of Use
The terms for smileyface.studio and for everything Smiley Face Studio LLC sells there. Please read them before you buy or take part.
Last updated 22 October 2026
01About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Smiley Face Studio LLC (“we”, “us”), a California limited liability company. They cover:
- this website, smileyface.studio;
- the software we sell here — our apps and plugins, listed on our products page; and
- the Mythwright private beta.
Sections 01 to 07 apply to the website and to the software we sell. Section 08 applies only to the Mythwright private beta. Sections 09 to 11 apply to everything.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not buy anything or claim a beta place. That is the only consequence.
02Eligibility
You must be 18 or over to buy from us or to take part in the Mythwright beta.
Our software is sold from the United States, and you can buy it wherever PayPal accepts your payment. The Mythwright beta has its own residency condition, set out in section 08.
03Buying software
All of our software is sold directly by Smiley Face Studio LLC. Payment is processed by PayPal, and PayPal’s own terms also apply to the payment. Prices are in US dollars.
Each product page states the price, the platform the software runs on, and its current state of development before you buy. Please read it. Where a product is offered at a launch price, its page says so and says when that price ends.
What a purchase includes is what the product page says it includes on the day you buy, and that is binding on us. That includes anything the page promises for later, such as free updates. Where a page names something that does not exist yet — a feature, a tier, or a platform in development that your licence will cover when it arrives — naming it is the promise, and it binds. Beyond what the page names, a price is not a promise of features that do not exist yet.
04Delivery
Our software is delivered by email, sent by a person, within one business day. Where a product has a claim form, you fill it in after paying, with the PayPal transaction ID from your receipt and the name you want on the licence, and the business day runs from your claim; where it does not, it runs from your payment. Where there is a claim page, it sets out what you should know about the build, and you confirm that you have read it before we send anything.
Depending on the product, you receive a licence file or licence key, together with either the software itself or a private download link made for you. A private link is hosted on a file service such as Google Drive and needs no account or sign-in. It is not posted on any public page, but anyone who holds it can download the file, so please do not share it. If you lose a link, or it expires, ask and we will send a fresh one.
05Signing and notarization
Waterline, Cinder, Omen, Tessera and V404 are signed by Smiley Face Studio LLC and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens them normally.
06Your software licence
Buying our software gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on machines you own or control.
What you make with it is yours, including for commercial use. We claim nothing in it and want no credit.
You may not redistribute, resell, share or publish the software or its licence files or keys, and you may not remove or bypass the licence check.
Our licences are checked on your own machine, without contacting us. We cannot switch one off remotely, and we would not want software that could be. Nothing else in these terms — including leaving the Mythwright beta, or asking us to delete what we hold about you — takes away software you paid for.
Where a product ships with its own end-user licence agreement and it is more specific than this section, it applies.
07All sales are final
All sales are final. Our Refund Policy explains what that means, and what happens in the one case that is not about changing your mind: software or a licence we did not deliver.
08The Mythwright private beta
Mythwright is a structured interview run inside a third-party AI model. It is offered as a private beta, by claim, and this section applies only to it.
Your work stays yours
You keep every right you have in your own work — copyright, moral rights, and everything else. Nothing you send us transfers any ownership, and nothing here grants us a licence to reproduce, publish, perform, adapt or distribute your work.
What you do grant us is narrow: permission to read the report you send, and to use what we learn from reading it to improve the instrument. That is the entire scope. It does not include publishing it, quoting it, showing it to anyone else, using it in marketing, or training an AI model on it. Those exclusions are restated as commitments in our Privacy Policy.
The graph and the mythology layer that come out of a run are yours. You may use them commercially, publish them, and sell work built on them. We claim nothing.
Your licence to the instrument
If you receive Mythwright, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to run it on your own work, for as long as you like, including commercially.
You may not redistribute, republish, resell or pass it on — whole, in part, rewritten or restated. It goes out to a small number of people on trust. Everything else — breaking it, arguing with it, telling people what happened — is fine and actively wanted.
The exchange
The beta has 20 places, open this round to US residents only. If you take one:
- You run the instrument and send back the structured wrap-up report it generates. That report is the payment for the full instrument, not a favour afterwards.
- The raw session log is requested but optional, and withholding it has no effect on what you receive.
- A place is held for 21 days, after which it may return to the pool. Ask for longer and you will get it.
- The full instrument is sent on receipt of a complete report. A person reads every one.
No money changes hands in either direction. Places are offered at our discretion, and we may decline a claim without giving a reason.
What it is not
Mythwright is beta software, provided as is. It can fail, drift, contradict itself, or return something you disagree with. It is designed to say no, and sometimes it will say no to you.
It is not therapy, counselling, diagnosis, grief work or medical, legal or financial advice, and it is built to redirect you if a session turns that way. Nothing it returns is a professional opinion of any kind.
It runs on a model you supply and control. We are not responsible for that model’s output, its terms, its costs, or what it does with your session. That is between you and its provider, and you should read their terms.
Your confirmations
By claiming a place, you confirm that you are 18 or over and resident in the United States (this round is US-only, and the claim form will not send without that confirmation); that the work you describe is yours to describe; and that sending us a report does not breach an NDA, a client agreement, or anyone else’s rights. If some of your work is under an obligation of confidence, redact it. The instrument does not need titles, and the report does not need specifics.
Leaving the beta
You can leave the beta at any time, for any reason or none, by telling us, and we will delete what you have sent. We may end the beta, or withdraw a place if these terms are broken — in practice, that means redistributing the instrument.
09Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and our total liability arising from the Mythwright beta, this site or a product is limited to the amount you paid for it — which, for the Mythwright beta and the site, is nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
10The whole agreement
These terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy are the whole agreement between us about the site, the Mythwright beta and anything you buy from us — together with what the product’s own page said it included on the day you bought it.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given it up.
11Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in San Diego County, California have jurisdiction. Where consumer-protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, these terms do not take that right away.
